The ashiko drum is a classic Afro-Cuban instrument played throughout sub-Saharan Africa and the Americas. In eastern Cuba, it is known as boku and is played during carnivals and street parades called Comparsas.
Large Ashiko
This Ashiko is a large drum with a large sound for those who like the
lower tonal range. A nice resonant bass is complimented by deep tones
and crisp slaps. Its height and head size are designed for comfortable
playing whether seated or standing.
Standard Ashiko This
mid-sized drum offers a huge amount of range and sound. It is the most
popular of the Ashiko series, having a clear resonant bass, mid-range
tones and crisp snaps, all serving to make it a great all around drum,
whether playing lead or a supporting role.
Small Ashiko
This slightly smaller Ashiko is similar in shape but has much higher
pitched tones and a clear resonant bass and a slap that attacks. It
compliments the lower tones of the 12" Ashiko and together, they make a
great set.
Mini Ashiko
This drum is definitely a child pleaser. It's size is perfect for
children's hands and its durability will withstand almost any abuse
your child can give it. (Watch for the use of sticks, as these drum
heads can break. If your child likes sticks, we can provide you with a
different head.) For the adult, it is a great drum to travel with. It
packs a lot of sound into a little space.
